Catalina Sanchez-Hernandez is a single mom who makes her living making and selling tortillas. They would never be able to have a stable dry home without help. The two older girls assist their mother with the small business by selling the tortillas when they are not in school.
Their house is scorched on one side from where they used to make tortillas. They now have a rustic kitchen area in front of the house where they currently make the tortillas. Their house consists of a few rows of blocks, tin and scraps of wood. The floor is dirt.
