Every Wednesday throughout the month of October, we will hold a bake sale in our office to fundraise for Optometry Giving Sight.
Come on by to support this amazing cause in the most delicious way possible!
As a valued patient, we care about protecting your vision. As optometrists, we also care about people around the world who lack access to quality vision care. Because of this, Pacific Eye Doctors will participate in the World Sight Day Challenge during October.
Now in its 12th year, the World Sight Day Challenge is the largest annual global fundraising campaign to address avoidable blindness caused by uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and glasses. The campaign is run by a global charity, Optometry Giving Sight.
There are more than 1.2 billion people in the world who are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to an eye exam or glasses. Preventable blindness is a solvable problem and we are proud to help give better vision to those in need. Most people are inspired to learn that as little as $5 can help give an eye exam and a pair of glasses to someone living in an underserved community to transform their lives.
Everyone can make a huge difference and we are thrilled to be contributing to Optometry Giving Sight.
We’d love our patients to get their eyes tested during the Challenge to help raise awareness and funds for this great cause. The campaign’s goal is to raise $1 million globally in 2018.
After losing her glasses, 14-year-old Cambodian girl Sokhanya cried for days. She knew exactly what it meant to lose them. Now her parents had to walk her to school as she might slip and fall on the uneven road and her beloved art and language classes were now impossible. A free eye screening service came to her school. After receiving an eye exam and a new pair of glasses, she was again able to walk alone to school, learn, and enjoy the company of her friends. Sokhanya is smiling again and her dream now is to become a nurse to help others. To date, Optometry Giving Sight has disbursed funding from donors and sponsors to 117 projects in 39 countries.
